Ancient variety of pear found in the Pietralunga area on the border with the Marche. Not very vigorous tree and expanded shape. Late flowering and harvested in the second half of October. Small fruit varying between pyriform and globose. Long and thin petiole. Skin completely covered with russeting (the name Rubbia = russet), very sandy cream pulp. Excellent for cooking or eaten over-ripe or half-cooked.
