Rosona Apple

APPLES / COLLECTION ORCHARD

Rediscovered in the municipality of Città di Castello (PG). The tree is very hardy and also suitable for poor soils. The fruit is medium-large, round, slightly asymmetrical, and very flattened at the poles. The skin is thick, yellow-green in colour with a deep red blush covering much of the surface. The stalk is medium-short and thick. The flesh is white with yellowish tones, crisp, slightly acidic, juicy and very aromatic. It is harvested in the first ten days of October and stored in the fruit store, where it keeps for a long time. Also known as Pianella or Piancuccio, in addition to fresh consumption it is particularly suitable for cooking, both baked in the oven and wrapped in damp paper under hot ashes.
