The mother plants were recovered in the areas of Citta’ di Castello and Montone (Perugia), but this name also denotes various other varietals that share the same elongated shape of the vegetable. They used to be widespread in all of Central Italy. They are still present in individual specimens. The tree is vigorous and with irregular habit. The leaves are part way pentalobate and then trilobate but the lobes are not too deep. The fruit is a biennial variety. The breba crop of mid July is large, with a long and shaped neck. The flesh is pink, sweet but not very aromatic and with large achenes. The skin is purplish tending to brown. The main crop is smaller, less elongated but more egg-shaped. The skin is dark purplish-grey, with few light grooves. The flesh is pink, sweet and aromatic. The breba crop starts maturing in mid-July, and the main crop ripens between mid-September and the beginning of October. These figs are very suitable for fresh eating; the flesh is delightful and refreshing, easily digestible even if a little laxative.
