When Odysseus, in the Odyssey, wants his father Laertes to recognize him, he describes a deeply personal memory that only the two of them could share. He tells him about the times they would go together to their orchard, and how he would ask the names of the plants, always receiving an answer that went far beyond the name alone, touching on their nature, species, and the qualities of their fruit. He was so curious that his father gave him thirteen pear trees, ten apple trees, forty fig trees, and fifty rows of vines.

The guided tours led by Isabella Dalla Ragione in the collection orchard are an immersive and extraordinary account of the ancient rural landscape that expresses the agricultural and environmental culture of our area. It is a quietly living collection, speaking of its features and its natural and historical story through Isabella’s narrative voice.
